IMPHAL, May 7: The Mayang Imphal Clubs Coordinating Committee has threatened to launch strong agitation and a 12 hour bandh to be imposed from 5 am of May 12 on the failure to conduct a Judicial Enquiry regarding the recent riot on April 11, 2015 at Mayang Imphal.

This was stated by the Secretary of Mayang Imphal Clubs Coordinating Committee, Meinam Khelendro Singh today at his residence at Mayang Imphal Konchak Mayai Leikai.

The act of arresting the vehicle owner and punishing him on baseless charges that he killed the vehicle lifter is strongly condemnable and it’s a turmoil to the people, he said.

He said, the government has maintained its silence on the incident and alleged that the government is protecting certain individuals and punishing the innocents.

Moreover, it is suspected that it was some Muslims who fired shotguns which hurt several people at Nungei, he maintained.

He continued that in the riot that followed several people were injured, houses, vehicle and various properties have been vandalized.

Memorandums have appealed to the State Government to investigate and find the truth about the incident among the two communities i.e the Meiteis and Meitei Pangals.

The government is yet to set up an inquiry into the incident and to help the homeless people affected by the riot, he grieved.
