Pukhao locals appeal to release Tondonba

IMPHAL, May 7: The United Pukhao Area Committee has appealed to the concerned UG group to release Kh Tondonba at the earliest.

At a press conference held here at the Manipur Press Club today the General Secretary of United Pukhao Area Committee Okram Saratchandra Singh said, Khumanthem Tondonba, 23 S/o Kh Kwaklei of Pukhao Naharup Awang Leikai was working as a JCB driver for PMGSY at Vongpal Village, Singhat Sub Division of Churachandpur District under a contractor identified as T Lala.

He said, on 3rd May at around 11:30 pm Tondonba was kidnapped by some miscreants from the worksite.

Saratchandra elaborated that the kidnappers are suspected to be the armed group of KNF-D as mentioned in the local newspapers. Regarding the incident, he said that a case have been filed at Churachandpur Police Station on 5th May by the contractor himself.

Tondonba is still missing without a trace since his reported kidnapping, Saratchandra on behalf of Tondonba’s family appealed to all concerned to release Tondonba at the earliest.

Saratchandra further said Pukhao is surrounded by tribal community and failing to produce the Tondonba might flare up unwanted incidents and also warned the government concerned to act upon the case swiftly to bring justice to Todonba case.

If Tondonba is not released or found by 9th May, then the committee along with the locals of Pukhao will begin agitation against the alleged UG group and also against the state Government, Saratchandra stated.

He also appealed to all UG groups to deal directly with the persons concerned and not to target labourers.
