Speaking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting which was presided by Chief Minister N Biren, Government spokesman Th Biswajit informed that the State Government would go for direct recruitment of Grade III and Grade IV employees without involving interviews as introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National level with the objective of eradicating graft practices.
The State Cabinet has also resolved to open an anti-corruption cell in order to check bribery during recruitments and file processing.
A mobile phone number 9402150000 with WhatsApp facility would be activated soon so that people can send audio or video messages related to corruption by Government officials.
The anti-corruption cell would be monitored by one MCS officer and an MPS officer and they would be stationed at the Chief Minister’s office. Identities of people who give information about corruption would be kept secret, Biswajit said.
The Cabinet meeting also discussed about effective implementation of Prime Minister’s ‘Housing for All’ programme in the State so that all the State’s poor households get the scheme’s benefits.
As per the guidelines of the scheme, household plots should be registered in the name of the beneficiaries or their spouses or in the names of the couples if they are residents of urban areas.
However, if the prospective beneficiaries cannot get their household plots registered in their own names due to poverty, they would be allowed to go for land registration free of cost and the State Cabinet adopted a resolution towards this effect, Biswajit told media persons.
Another decision adopted at the Cabinet meeting today directed all Government departments to upload photographs of all projects implemented by them on Geotech Photography so that their progress can be reviewed regularly.
Necessary funds for different projects would be released only after ascertaining work progress from the uploaded photographs. The State Cabinet further resolved to introduce Direct Benefit Transfer system so that State beneficiaries of Central sponsored schemes get the benefits directly, Biswajit added.
