Huirem, who hails from the North Eastern state of Manipur will be pitted against a total of 30 contestants across 155 countries. Counted among Manipur’s highest-paid actresses Huirem also has a full-fledged bridal beauty salon to her credit. The actress who is understandably, very excited to represent her country at the pageant, wants people to be more thoughtful and accepting towards her community.
Hailed as the world’s largest and most coveted transgender beauty pageant, the Miss International Beauty contest will be held on November 9 in Pattaya, Thailand this year. But there’s a tiny problem among all the joy. Huirem doesn’t have funds to sponsor her trip to Thailand.
“What causes immediate worry for the contestant is the absence of financial backers, something that she has to sort out before she can leave Imphal to attend the event as planned, on October 27,” a quote in The Hindu reads.
With a lack of sponsors currently looming over her head, we really hope Huirem’s dream of making it to the pageant subsequently comes true.
