Governor’s condolence

IMPHAL, Feb 1: The Governor has expressed his grief over the demise of Guru N Khelchandra Singh, Padmashri.
The governor in his message has stated that with his demise, Manipur has lost a great scholar, historian, a promoter of Manipuri arts and culture. His contributions towards the development of Manipuri literature and scripts and promotion of Manipuri Martial Art will always be remembered. He took the major part in compiling and editing “Cheitharol Kumbaba” (The Royal Chronicle of Manipur) and wrote “Manipuri to Manipuri and English Dictionary” which are highly valuable to the scholars and researchers not only in Manipur but all over the country. He was known as the Human Encyclopedia of Manipur among the Manipuri scholars. Through his rare contributions in various fields he will remain alive amidst all of us and future generations. His passing away has left an irreparable void in Manipur`s arts and culture scene.
The message has also offered his deep condolences to the family members as well as the people of Manipur and share in the sorrow of the bereaved family.
