IMPHAL, Jul 29: Regretting that people residing in the downstream of the Mapithel Dam which is a part of the Thoubal Multipurpose Project are sheltering in temporary relief camps in absence of intervention of the government, the All Yairipok United Clubs Organization (AYUCO) has expressed apprehension on the possibility of outbreak of communicable diseases in the relief camps with the onset of rainy season.

It appealed to the concerned authority to address the woes of the residents affected by the dam construction at the earliest.

The organization also supported the 38-hour state-wide general strike called by the JAC formed in connection with the death of Sapam Robinhood who was killed in the hands of police during a protest demonstration staged on July 8 demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit System in the state without further delay.
