Ukl set to roll out red carpet for CM today

Ukhrul, Apr 10 : To roll out the red carpet for Chief Minister N Biren when he comes visiting here tomorrow, hectic preparations have been on since the last one week.

The dilapidated Ukhrul town has been given a major face lift and the main road which passes through the town of the district headquarters have been repaired with all the potholes mended.

A huge welcome gate with the words, “CM welcome to Ukhrul” has been erected at TNL Ground, Wino Bazar where the Chief Minister will address the public and wide publicity drive has been launched ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit.

During a brief interaction, the convener of the reception committee AS Ningmi said that the programme is being organised meticulously to showcase the hospitality of the Tangkhul community.

The committee comprises of intellectuals, activists, well wishers etc and is fully backed and supported by Tangkhul CSOs, BJP and NPF in order to ensure a successful visit.
He further mentioned that a separate stage has been constructed for visiting Ministers and MLAs besides district CSO leaders.

Separate counters will also be opened at the venue for submission of memoranda.
According to an official source, the Chief Minister is expected to reach TNL Ground Wino Bazar, Ukhrul at 11 am and deliver a public address.

The Chief Minister and his team will be treated to Hao Pheichak, cultural display, Hao Laa and special numbers from renowned artistes of the State.

According to a reliable source, all the MLAs, Ministers aligned with BJP led Government will accompany the Chief Minister to Ukhrul tomorrow. On the way to Ukhrul from Imphal by road, the Chief Minister and his team are expected to stop at some villages and interact with the people for some time. The Ukhrul BJP unit will accord a warm welcome to the Chief Minister and his team at the party office.

On the security arrangement taken up ahead of the high profile visit, Ukhrul SP Hemant Pandey sufficient number of police personnel have been deployed in and around the town areas and to avert traffic congestion, officials have been instructed to supervise vehicular movement in the town and set up separate parking lot for the public. Ahead of tomorrow’s programme, trial excercise for the CM’s escort was conducted smoothly today.
