When some members of the committee raised question why the order of the recognition of new villages in the hill districts issued by the hill department were cancelled, chief secretary DS Poonia explained the stand of the state government that the enlistment in the Business of the Manipur Government (Allocation) Rules, 2009, for recognition of all hill villages under the Revenue department is only a matter of procedure.
Finally, committee meeting, after threadbare discussion on the matter, resolved that all the matters relating to recognition of all Hill villages be placed under the purview of the department of ST/ST and Hills, in the business of the government of Manipur (Allocation) Rules, 2009, in accordance with the Manipur Hill Peoples (Administration) Regulation 1974.
