IMPHAL, May 24: A Chinese hand grenade was found lying inside the residential compound of a police constable late last night at around 10:30pm.
The grenade was later picked up by the police around 11pm.
According to a police source, the grenade was found lying in the compound of one Baraluddin alias Bobby, 25 son of Ujeruddin of Khabeishoi Mamang Leikai under Heingang PS.
Speaking to media persons, Baraluddin who is a police constable presently posted at the Heingang PS said that he was returning from his aunt’s residence after having dinner.
His family members had come out to open the gate when they found a black polythene bag in the compound.
When he checked the bag the grenade and a sheet of paper were found inside, he informed.
There was some scribbling on the paper however it was not readable, he further said.
He also elaborated that his family has been receiving several threats on the mobile phone since sometime back, though the assailants never made the name of their organization clear.
Whenever he had tried to contact the mobile number it was always switched off, he claimed.
