IMPHAL, December 15: The indefinite bandh along Old Cachar Road has been discontinued with immediate effect after bandh supporters were satisfied with the assurances on resumption of repair of the road given by ministers and engineers during a meeting this morning.

According to a press release issued by Cachar Road Education and Sporting Association, Bishnupur, a delegation of the groups that imposed the bandh discussed their demands with deputy chief minister Gaikhangam, and engineers of PWD in the presence of local MLA Govindas at the residential office of the deputy chief minister early morning today.

Convinced by the fresh promises from the side of the administration, the agitators have decided to call off their stir, stated the press release signed by general secretary of the association. It may be recalled that CRESA, Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Khoupum area, Senior Citizen, Bishnupur and civil organizations have called an indefinite bandh. Talks to arrive thrash out the matter yesterday with Govindas and PWD engineers had culminated without any success.
