IMPHAL, April 25: The Public Health Engineering Department has said in a press release that due to scarcity of water the areas under Golapati Water Supply Scheme will try to provide water after every two days to its consumers.
However, under the Manipur Water Supply Act, 1992, un-authorized connections will be cut off by the authorities of the department and a fine of Rs 3000 and up to six months in jail of the defaulters will be awarded, it said.
The department appeals to local clubs and local organisations to co-operate said, the statement issued by the executive engineer, Water Supply Maintenance, Division No 1 said.
