IMPHAL, June 7: Ahead of the 13th Great June Uprising, Unity Day, 2014 observation on June 18, residents of Zomi Villa and Kekru Villa cleaned the Kekru Pat Martyrs Park starting from 6am today.
The Great June Uprising is being observed on June 18 in commemorating the mass uprising of the people against the extension of ceasefire between the NSCN (IM) and the GoI ‘without territorial limit.’
18 people had laid down their lives during the agitation in 2001.
The observation will be jointly organised by the UCM and AMUCO at Kekru Pat.
Speaking to the media, field and stage of the 13th Great June Uprising, Unity Day, 2014 organising committee, convenor W Gonendro said that the UCM and AMUCO have extended gratitude to all the people of various societies, Shumang Lila groups, film groups, musicians, rickshaw drivers and others who participated in the cleaning activity.
