ANJUMAN clarifies on kidnapping charges

IMPHAL, September 5: Allegations of the ANJUMAN kidnapping a police constable for ransom as made through the media by the father of the constable is a total baseless charge, vice president of the Lilong based organisation Abdul Gafar clarified today.

Speaking to media persons today at the Manipur Press Club, Gafar said the said police constable Md Najir Ahmed was physically involved with a vehicle lifting gang.

Najir`™s father Basir Ahmed`™s allegations of kidnapping and ransom demand are all baseless and untrue he claimed.

He said Rs 3 lakhs demand is not ransom money but the amount received by Nasir for a Bolero vehicle. Najir is presently in custody of ANJUMAN as the organisation is trying to locate some already sold vehicles, he continued.

Najir has himself disclosed before the ANJUMAN that he was physically involved with a vehicle lifters gang.

Being a police personnel he would check whether the road was clear for the vehicle lifters and that cut percentage when the deals are made, Gafar claimed.

Najir has also disclosed the names of two other gang members he continued.

The other two are Ayub Khan from Hiyangthang who is in jail at present and Mazibur Ahmed son of ex Zila parishad of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Atou Khongjil Kora, he said.

Gafar also claimed that Mazibur is also under the custody of ANJUMAN since some six days back.

ANJUMAN has been working since some 5/6 years for the society and helping streamline the youths who had strayed from the right path and it is unfortunate that such allegations as levelled against the organisation, he continued.
