IMPHAL, Dec 24: A Workers’ Welfare Finance Investment Programme under the sponsorship of JNIMS Director Prof Deven Laishram was inaugurated today at JNIMS conference hall.
The inaugural function was organized by Workers’ Union Manipur (WUM).
The Director donated an amount of Rs 2 lakh to start the programme.
Of the 65 applicants who applied for the loan, 45 workers have been selected for the first phase of the programme.
The selected workers will get a loan of Rs 5000 each which they have to refund Rs 1000 every month without interest.
There are around 80 to 90 workers under Workers’ Union Manipur presently working at JNIMS. They take care of the cleanliness of JNIMS.
The Director speaking at the function said that the programme meant for workers is just the beginning as there are many others who like to extend help in the endeavour.
He also assured to further extend all possible help from his side in the programme for the welfare of workers.
The function was also attended by Deputy Director of JNIMS Bono and WUM president K Landon as guest of honour and president respectively.
