IMPHAL, January 13: The All Manipur Students’ Union today informed that it will submit a report of certain wrong conducts in the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and at the same time demanded resignation of the institute’s Medical Superintendent Prof M Amuba.

The students’ union has set a January 25 deadline for the authorities concerned to act on its demands.

Speaking to media persons today at the union’s office, its president Manjit Sarangthem alleged fraudulent appointment of some staff of the institute and demanded that the MS should step down on moral grounds.

He also demanded that the authorities concerned should dismiss the appointments of the candidates for the post of plumber and junior technical refrigerator appointed wrongly.

In case of failure to meet the deadline, the union will take up various democratic forms of agitation, he warned.

He said on June 4, 2015, RIMS issued a notification for the posts of one each of jr technical refrigerator, plumber, dark room assistant, blood bank organizer, audio-visual technician and two assistant tech. (electricians). The result for the recruitment process was released on November 25, 2015, he added.

The shortlisted candidates for the said posts found eligible for the recruitment process was notified on August 14, he added.

Unfortunately, for the plumber’s post, a candidate whose name was not on the shortlisted list, Oinam Pathou was appointed, while Vidyananda Yengkhom who was appointed for the junior technical refrigerator’s post was found to have submitted a fake matriculation certificate, he claimed.

He alleged Vidyananda had submitted a fake certificate and the school from which he is said to have matriculated don’t exist.

All these points to fraudulent practices in the recruitment process, he added.

He said the ASU has been appealing to all concerned to conduct recruitment process fairly.
