Andro MLA promises entire LADF to education sector alone

IMPHAL, January 27: Andro MLA Th Shyamumar declared today that the entire MLA Local Area Development fund amounting to Rs 1 crore will be utilised in the Education sector alone.

He was speaking at an inter-school friendly football match between Moreh Government Higher Secondary School and Azad Higher Secondary School Yairipok in connection with the 35th Anniversary celebration of the All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers’ Welfare Association at Yairipok public ground.

He said the Education sector in the State is in a deplorable condition especially the girls have been neglected.

However, we will make put efforts in developing the education sector especially that of girls in Andro constituency, he added.

We will try to make each and every girl of Andro literate so that the future of the constituency will be bright, he said, adding that the entire MLALADF will be utilised every year in developing education infrastructure.

Education brings discipline and honesty in the youth and this will only help in bringing unity in the State, he added.

He further promised to develop the sector and urged the people to support and contribute for the endeavour.

He said development of school infrastructures in Andro is continuing with funds from the Union ministry.

Girls hostels of the Azad Higher Secondary and Moirangpurel High School will be completed soon, he added.

He continued the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Minority Affairs has also sanctioned Rs 3.5 crores each for the construction of minority boys’ hostel for Azad Hr Sec School and Moirangpurel High School.

He said another Rs 2.5 crore each for boys and girls hostel of Poireikhongjil High School have been sanctioned by the NEC.

He said the State government under the Chief Minister has asked him to upgrade the Yambem aided School and the only KVG School of the constituency to high schools.

Next year, we will aim to upgrade the Moirangpurel High School to a Higher Secondary and introduce all streams of Science, Arts and Commerce in the Azad High School, he said.

He said private schools don’t have Arts stream as they are only business minded.

Shyamkumar further promised the people of Andro that there are several schemes meant for the welfare of people from the union government and he will try his best to avail all the facilities and schemes to the people.
