Dy CM underlines maintenance of peace, unity in Moreh

MOREH, January 9: Stressing on the need for spreading meaningful messages and greetings on every New Year so as to sensitize the people in a State like Manipur where different communities reside together, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam noted the importance of maintaining peace and unity which is much required in developing a nation.

The Dy CM was addressing the 12th Manipur Imagi Yaipha Paojel 2016 organized jointly by All Community Development Organization Moreh (ACODOM); Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup Moreh and Minority Women’s Development Organization, Moreh at Moreh Town Parking today.

Speaking as chief guest, Gaikhangam made a fervent appeal to all the communities to refrain from imposing bandh and economic blockade in today’s world once for all as these hamper development of the State at large.

The land of Manipur does not belong to a particular community alone, he maintained, calling upon the people to maintain peace and tranquility in the region for the sake of development.

Emphasizing the need for maintenance of peace and unity in Moreh border town considering its strategic location, the Dy CM asserted that both the State and Central government is keeping priority on Moreh to develop the region in every sphere.

He appealed to the denizens of Moreh to extend full cooperation to the developmental projects taken up in the border town.

People of Moreh should make best use of international trade affairs in the border town which in turn will boost economy of the State, he averred.

Gaikhangam observed that tourists will flock in Moreh only when there is peaceful environment in the town, which will also accelerate large scale business with the neighboring country Myanmar.

As part of the occasion, cultural programmes by different communities and musical concern were presented.

Today’s programme was also attended by advisor of ACODOM RK Sanayaima Singh and Minister of IFCD Ngamthang Haokip as president and guest of honor respectively.
