KSO-GHQ expresses concern

KANGPOKPI, Jan.30: Kuki Students’ Organization, GHQ has strongly condemned and expressed massive concern over the arrest of five student activists from Kaimai village today.

Seiboi Haokip, general secretary, KSO-GHQ said that the student body is deeply concern over the arrest of 5 student activists including J. Thangboi Kuki, KSO Jiri & Tamenglong District general secretary today by the State police from Kaimai village.

He continued that the student activists resorted to violent agitations because of the State government’s indifference towards their demand for upgradation of Jiri College into a full-fledged college.

He further said that the three student bodies namely, AMSU, KSO and ZSUJA have placed such a genuine demand to the government but the government surprisingly chose to ignore it.

As such, the violent agitation taken up the three student bodies is explicable, he said while adding that the KSO GHQ expresses solidarity with the three student bodies of Jiribam of their demand for a full-fledged college which would adequately cater to the need of the students of the area, the opportunity for higher education.

He also said that the government should not come down heavily on the student activists but should instead bring them at the negotiating table to chalk out an amicable solution.

The responsibility for damaged vehicles should be borne by the government and the owners as prior and proper information of the blockade have been disseminated to all and sundry, Seiboi said and added that the vehicle owners have met their fate on their own accord.
