IMPHAL, Feb 2: An official team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is probing the killing of Sanjit in a staged fake encounter in broad daylight at BT Road on July 23, 2009, arrived at the capital today.
According to sources, the team is headed by Director General of Police (DIG) of the investigation agency, M Gogoi. He is a senior IPS officer and In-Charge of North East.
Arrival of the team came at a time when the public are eagerly waiting for the outcome of the case following the sensational confession of head constable of Manipur Police Commando, Thounaojam Herojit who is one of the accused in the alleged fake encounter case.
On the other hand, deposition of the remaining prosecution witnesses of the case to be held in the court of District & Sessions Judge Manipur West at Uripok Cheirap Court complex today has been postponed on February 20.
