KANGPOKPI, February 16: Kuki Students’ Organization, Churachandpur today expressed their deep distress over the alleged simmering lawlessness and inter-community fanaticism in the district.

NJ. Haoneo Baite, general secretary of KSO Churachandpur in a press statement said that the student body is deeply pained to note of the fact that simmering lawlessness and inter-community intolerance had become the order of the day in Churachandpur.

He alleged that the act of hatred and discrimination perpetrated by some five to six Paite speaking fringe elements in their bid to de-stabilized the congenial inter-community tranquility way laid and severely injured one Janglal Baite alias Lalboi, a personnel of 7 Assam Rifles in civil dress for a single reason that the victim happens to be one amongst the Thadou-Kuki dialect group on February 14 night.

He also said that Hiangtam Lamka road could not be avoided as it links district hospitals and other important settlements even in odd hours and alleged that several incidence of such nature occurred intermittently.

Meanwhile, the Zillai (Vaiphei Students` Association) GHQ strongly condemned on physical assault to one Janglal Baite, son of Demmang Baite of Moreh Ward 1 Chandel by some unidentified miscreants at Hiangtam Lamka and demanded the concern authority to take befitting action against the culprits involved in the crime said a press statement issued by its president Hauminthang.
