IMPHAL, March 17: Additional Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu has instructed the DC Churachandpur to issue notice through wide publicity to all License gun holders not to misuse the licensed weapons like giving gun salute and to deposit their licence along with weapon to the nearest police station immediately.
Referring to a letter of the DC regarding proposal of the JAC Churachandpur directing all gun licence holders in the district to give gun salute using licensed guns on March 18, the additional CS has said that gun licenses are granted only for self protection of license holders and not for any other purpose.
An official circular of the Additional CS has said that misuse of licensed weapon is illegal and will be liable for cancellation of gun license.
It further said that all license weapon or those who fail to deposit to the nearest police station shall be cancelled.
