Arms smugglers apprehended

IMPHAL, March 11: Troops of 26 Assam Rifles has apprehended 4 Arms Smugglers from Beheng, Churachandpur on March 9.

According to a release of the PIB Defence Wing, a Tata 407 veh bearing Registration Number NL07-A- 6032 with 4 villagers on board arrived at the Permanent Vehicle Check Post of 26 Assam Rifles when checked thoroughly the vehicle yielded one M4A1 CARBINE CAL 5.56mm and one magazine which were recovered from the 4 individuals in the vehicle.

On spot investigation of the apprehended individuals revealed their details as S Khupkhansiam, son of S Thongkhanthang, of Pakmual village, Churachandpur, Lianno Samte, son of S Khupkhansiam of Pakmual, Churachandpur, Suanlian Tung, son of Lamsuan Pao of Village Suangphu, Churachandpur and Kaphan Tun, son of (l) Kapsuan Mang, of Suangphu village, Churachandpur, it said.

In another successful operation, troops of 7 Assam Rifles apprehended one Arms Smuggler from Tuibong Market, Churachandpur based on a specific input regarding the movement of a suspected person with weapon, the troops immediately launched an operation on March 9 March at around 4 pm.

The party swiftly carried out a thorough search of the location and apprehended one Arms Smuggler along with a weapon. The apprehendee has been identified as Halunkhopao, 29, son of Jamhem, of Nabil village, Bishnupur. The individual was apprehended along with one 9 mm Pistol (Country made) and a magazine. The apprehendee along with the recovered items was handed over to Police Station Churachandpur, it said.
