CADA holds awareness programme on alcohol

IMPHAL, March 8: The Coalition against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) has said that a joint awareness programme on alcohol was held on March 7 at Taothong Ayungba Mayai Leikai with the Sun Shine Youth Club (SSYC), Taothong.

According to a release of the association, the programme was attended by CADA president advocate Yumnam Ratankumar as chief guest, ZEO Bishnupur, Khwairakpam Yaima as president with retired Assistant Teacher, Tongbram Samungou, Social Worker, Chabungbam Memchapisak and secretary of Taothong Yaipha THourang Nupi Lup, Abujam Memcha as guests of honour.

Invitees at the programme, L. Premila and Secretary of SSYC, Usham Rojit said that the programme will help in bringing awareness to the youths against the effects of alcohol consumption and prohibition will bring a better society, it said.

The guest of honour, Social Worker, Ch. Memcha has said that the government should imposed acts and laws against alcohol immediately. The chief guest in his speech has also appealed to the concerned department to ban alcohol. He further stated that he will also take part in movements against alcohol consumption.

The president has regretted that the people of Taothang do not seem to have any idea on importance of the awareness programme held in the area.

He further enquired why the people are reluctant in helping out the youths of Taothang who are affected by alcohol consumption, it said.
