IMPHAL, March 20: The Khousabung Sub-Division Demand Committee (KSDDC) has imposed a 24-hour Churachandpur district bandh and part of the Tiddim Road from the midnight of March 21 to 22 midnight, in protest against the failure of the Government to fulfil their demand to rename Thangting subdivision to Khousabung sub-division.
The KSDDC also boycotted the proposed inauguration of SDO/BDO office at Kangvai due to be held on March 22.
Speaking to media persons, KSDDC spokesperson, Ng Sang Gangte, informed that the decision to impose the bandh was adopted during an emergency meeting convened today at Khousabung village.
He said the meeting deliberately discussed on the state Government’s indifferent attitude to the democratic movement by the people covered by the newly created subdivision (erstwhile Thangting subdivision) in Churachandpur districts and condemned the act of the government at the strongest term.
The meeting further took strong exception to the Government’s negligence to dispose the case of KSDDC even as compliance notice is served by the High Court of Manipur which directed the state to disposed the case at the earliest following a PIL, he said.
Moreover, meet also strongly condemned the orders (dated March and another WT Message March 19, which are processed for inauguration of Kangvai SDO/BDO office building at Kangvai against the aspiration of the people comprising of 125 villages.
Urging all concerned not to attend the inauguration function, he warned that any unwanted incident arising during the bandh will be the sole responsibility of the concerned and state Government.
At the same time, he threatened to launch intense form of agitation is the government does not roll back the proposed inauguration.
The spokespersons also appealed all sections of the society to extend maximum cooperation and support to the people’s movement for justice and administrative convenience.
