Poreikhongjil declares unwavering support for Andro MLA

IMPHAL, March 19: Villagers of Poreikhongjil have unanimously resolved to restrict any intending candidate for the 2017 State general election for Andro Assembly Constituency to enter the village other than incumbent MLA Th Shyamkumar starting today.

The resolution was arrived at during a one day political conference held at the Poreikhongjil Mayai Laikai community hall organised jointly by the All Poreikhongjil United Club Organisation (APUCO) and Poreikhongjil Women Welfare Association (PWWA).

Another resolution recommended by 15 leaders of various organisations and supported by the people was that the people of the area will fully support the sitting MLA in the next State election.

The meeting also resolved that no matter party affiliation, and whether the present MLA gets Congress, BJP or another party ticket for the election, the people will support him.

It was also resolved for the organisation to form sub-committees for all polling stations, election committees and other committees after declaration of the general election notification from the ECI. The resolutions were read out by the president of association.

The political conference was attended by various organization from Bamol Leikai, Maibam Leikai, Torbam Leikai, Awang Leikai, Pangambam Leikai, Khundongbam leikai, Makha Leikai, Moirangsari women and men.

Around 15 leaders of the area spoke on the occasion highlighting activities taken up by Shyamkumar for the welfare and development of the area since he was elected the local MLA.

APUCO general secretary Dogendro said the people are aware that there is no need for any other social worker in the constituency as long as Shyamkumar is present.
