URF faction’s designated camp attacked, none hurt

IMPHAL, March 3: A designated camp of a faction of the Suspension of Operation signatory group United Revolutionary Front, Manipur was attacked by unidentified gunmen last night around 11 pm.

The attackers used guns and bombs during the attack.

The camp is located inside a primary school at Napet Palli along the road near the Lamlai Police Station and lodges cadres of the Soviet Ngangom alias Chingkheinganba led faction.

According to police report, the attack was launched from outside the camp towards the camp. Since the cadres were already asleep they escape unhurt.

However, the washing machine kept inside the camp, refrigerator and other utensils kept for water storage bore bullet holes.

A combined team of Lamlai Police, Imphal East District Police and 49 BSF conducted a search operation in the area this morning.

The team recovered an unexploded Chinese made hand grenade, empty cases and some live rounds of AK series rifles, M-16 rifle and 9MM pistol.

The grenade was safely exploded by a tea of the police bomb expert.

The Lamlai Police has registered a case regarding the attack.
