Pampha Rai JAC calls 24-hr bandh

IMPHAL, April 4: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the Brutal Killing of Pampha Rai has imposed a 24 hours bandh along National Highway-39 with effect from 6 pm of April 5 to demand stringent punishment against the culprit who allegedly raped and murdered the woman.

The JAC in a press statement urged the government to assure that judgment on the incident be given at the earliest.

It also demanded the government to take up action against the culprit’s parents for misleading the victim’s family.

Our Kangpokpi Correspondent adds: Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills, Bhumi Prasad and newly formed Sadar Hills Gorkha today lodged their strong resentment over the rape and murdered of Pampha Rai and condemned the incident in the strongest term.

The ADC Sadar Hills Executive Member, who belongs to Gorkha community and represented the Gorkha people from Irang Part-II in the Sadar Hills administration, condemned the raped and murdered of Pampha Rai in a Hotel at Churachandpur on April 2.

The Executive Member also expressed condolence to the bereaved family members and relatives while consoling in their time of sorrow and pain.

He also appeal the authority concerned to deliver justice to the victim and her family.

Meanwhile, Sadar Hills Gorkha Union also separately condemned the raped and murdered of Pampha Rai while strongly denouncing the incident.

Hari Prasad Nepal, President, Sadar Hills Gorkha Union lamented that the heinous crime upon the innocent Gorkha girl is unacceptable while conveying the union heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.

The Sadar Hills Gorkha Union supremo also urged the authority concerned to frame charge sheets against the culprit at the earliest and deliver justice to the victim and her family.

The union also warns that it will not remain a mute spectator if the demands of JAC formed against the raped and murdered of Pampha Rai is not deliver satisfactorily in time while stating that it will endorse and support any movement of the JAC in connection with the incident.
