IMPHAL, May 30 : Eleven more students have been picked up by the police today for staging a protest demonstration at Keishampat bridge today.

The students – eight girls and three boys, came out and sat on the Keishampat bridge from 2.30 pm demanding implementation of ILPS or a similar mechanism in the State. Large police force of Imphal West PS kept a vigil over the protesters during their protest. They were later picked up by a police recovery van when they refused to clear the road. They were heard shouting slogans inside the vehicle as it drove off.

In the meantime, students and staff of Heritage Convent, Uripok took to the streets demanding implementation of ILPS. Students and teachers of the school marched from Uripok road up to Khwairamband Keithel holding placards and shouting slogans demanding implementation of ILPS and removal of non-locals from the State electoral list.

Nongpok Ingkhol Pioneer Club members along with meira paibis of New Checkon blocked the New Checkon road in support of JCILPS.
