NIA court reserves judgement on RK Meghen case

IMPHAL, May 18: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court in Guwahati has today reserved its judgement on the proscribed United National Liberation Front ‘Chairman’ RK Meghen’s case.

The NIA had in 2010 charge-sheeted in RK Meghen alias Sanayaima alongwith 18 others for waging war against the Indian Union and a special trial has been going on in the NIA court, since then.

The defense lawyers concluded their final arguments today with Advocate Gunadhor Singh submitting his final argument statement.

The Special Court heard the final arguments of the defense lawyers in three consecutive hearings in Guwahati.

After the final hearing today, the Special Court reserved its judgement which is slated to be announced on June 8, the report said.

NIA had produced 114 prosecution witnesses in the special court to plead its case, out of which 84 were examined.

The agency had submitted altogether 205 documents and 45 recovered items to support its case.

RK Meghen and 15 others are presently lodged in the Guwahati Central Jail.
