IMPHAL, June 3: BJP MLA from Thangmeiband assembly constituency Khumukcham Joykishan has reacted strongly against the state government for announcing a wanted tag on JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan.

Speaking to media persons today at his residence, the MLA said the government seems to be trying to divert the attention of the public from the burning issue of ILP in the State.

He urged the State government to first undertake some serious investigation on the issue before taking any hasty step.

Questioning whether the State police have made any enquiry into the picture which has created all the excitement, he asked will the State police to tender an apology to Ratan, if the picture of Ratan holding the flag turns out to be doctored or edited.

He further demanded as to which court had declared Khomdram Ratan as an absconder and why the State government has not declared the three other persons with Ratan in the picture as absconding or wanted.

Reacting to the order regarding a case filed against Ratan he said the statement “promoting social unrest and enmity among different groups of people living in Manipur in the recent part” included in the order could only be in reference to the ILP movement.

He said it is common knowledge that the State government doesn’t endorse the ILP demand in the State.

He said if the government is reluctant to do the needful for implementation of the ILP in the State, he will do it on his own.

He further said that the silence of the Congress MLAs and minister on the issue is unfortunate.

He also demanded that the State police should furnish all evidences against Ratan within seven days and if they fail to do so, they should tender an apology to Ratan.

He said he will also launch a movement against the State government in case the police fail to prove it.
