IMPHAL, Jul 2: A student of SI School, Canchipur who is supposed to share 24th position with two other students in the list of rank holders of Class X examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur  this year has been left out due to a major goof-up on the part of the Board.
The matter came to light after the student identified as Kshetrimayum Swaminath (Roll No 39970) applied for re-evaluation of Manipuri, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science answer sheets.
Swaminath’s disgruntled father Nilamani came to The Sangai Express office with all the relevant papers and mark sheets today.
He said that Swaminath had also submitted an RTI application seeking photostat copies of answer sheets of all the subjects.
He said that despite good performance, Swaminath was earlier given only 58 marks out of 80 in external Manipuri paper and 64 out of 80 in external Social Science paper.
During the course of re-evaluation, it was shockingly ascertained that Swaminath actually scored 71 marks in Manipuri and 66 in Social Science, he said.
Due to this blunder, the student, who was supposed to secure 24th position was omitted from the merit list of the HSLC exam results declared on May 24 last.
The mark sheet issued by the Board before the re-evaluation shows Swaminath scoring only 523 marks out of total 600 marks, he said and added that BOSEM had now issued a new mark sheet for Swaminath wherein his total mark had increased to 543.
Nilamani said that BOSEM had also issued a corrigendum on June 27 last stating that Swaminath is the 24th rank holder.
