Tamenglong-Khongshang road CM reviews, re-tender held

IMPHAL, Jul 14: Even as the National Highway Infra-structure Development Cor- poration Limited (NHIDCL) held re-tender for construction of Tamenglong-Khongshang road yesterday, Chief Minister O Ibobi held a review meeting about the road construction project today.
The review meeting which started at 1 pm and presided by the Chief Minister was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Tamenglong AC MLA Janghemlung Pamei, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, Tamenglong DC and officials of BRO and NHIDCL, informed an official source.
Work order for construction of Tamenglong- Khong- shang road was earlier given to Ghaziabad based company Woodhills but the bank guarantee furnished by the company was found to be a forged one.
Subsequently, the entire tender process was cancelled and a fresh tender was held yesterday. The tender process is likely to completed by mid-August, said NHIDCL officials during the review meeting.
The 39.5 Kms long road would be constructed at the cost of Rs 12 crore and survey for construction of two lanes has been completed. But it will still take some more time as the land acquisition process has not been completed, informed the source.
The meeting entrusted BRO the task of maintaining the road till September including removal of lands brought down by landslides as and when landslides occur.
The meeting also discussed about damages done to Imphal-Jiribam highway due to waste materials generated by construction of railway track. The participants agreed to discuss the matter in another meeting together with Railway officials, added the source.
