Red Ribbon Superstar Manipur Idol organized at BOAT

IMPHAL, Feb 18: The Grand finale of the `Red Ribbon Superstar Manipur Idol 2010-11` a musical talent hunt was inaugurated by the Health Minister, L. Jayentakumar Singh today at the Beigyachandra Open Air Theater, Imphal.
The talent hunt was organised by the Manipur State Aids Control Society MACS with the main objective of spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS to the masses using the musical extravaganza.
While addressing the gathering during the opening session of the talent hunt, the health minister, urged the people living with the HIV/AIDS (PLHA) virus not to corner themselves away from the society and wither away instead to come out and join the mainstream and lead a normal life.
The minister further quipped that with timely and proper treatment a PLHA can now live more than 70-80 years and further appealed the PLHA to seriously consider his advice.
Furthermore the minister urged the youths of the state to stay away from intoxicants and illegal drugs and contribute to building a better and stronger tomorrow.
V. Vumlunmang, IAS, Commissioner (H&FW), Government of Manipur, president, MACS, Pradeep Kumar Jha, project director, MACS also attended the opening of the talent hunt.
Altogether 18 local rock bands including two bands from each district is competing in the talent hunt. The result of the competition will be declared the tomorrow.
