IMPHAL, Oct 1: The Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti , which is also being observed as the “National Cleanliness Day” on October 2 every year.
In his message, the Governor said, “Gandhiji attached great importance to cleanliness. Cleanliness, in fact, is a necessity for healthy living. Cleansing of our premises and surroundings once a year on a particular occasion or function is not enough. It should be made a regular feature, because it will go for a long way in protecting us from various diseases. While observing the “National Cleanliness Day” along with cleansing our surroundings, every effort has to be made for purification of mind. This is what the Father of the Nation dreamt of and this is what he wanted. Only then, observance of the day will be meaningful. We also have to remember and follow his message of truth, peace, love, friendship and non-violence.”
