IMPHAL, July 9: Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi has raised a calling attention motion in the House today regarding the fraudulent withdrawal of pension of a deceased officer of Manipur Police (Telecom) by the DDO.
MLA Ibohalbi questioned the sanctity of Manipur Police (Telecom) which is under the state home department. He asked the home department if the Manipur Police (Telecom) has become a haven for thieves.
He stated that the pension of one deceased assistant sub-inspector Kh Rajen was fraudulently withdrawn by the DDO of Manipur Police (Telecom) DIGP Office instead of handing over the amount to the family members of the deceased officer. The pension amount of Rs. 4,23,175 was withdrawn by the DDO in two installments from SBI Secretariat Branch.
Ibohalbi expressed disapproval at the conduct of the officers of Manipur Police (Telecom) who had fraudulently withdrawn huge sum of money in the midst of government’s restriction of money transaction.
Replying to the motion, home minister Gaikhangam stated the pension amount is Rs. 7,82,672 and it has not been withdrawn. The official process for withdrawal is going on at the Treasury Office.
Dr Ibohalbi further maintained that he would like to table all documents pertaining to the fraudulent withdrawal of pension by the DDO. Thereupon, home minister Gaikhangam assured to conduct an enquiry and punish the culprits involved in the case.
