Madras trooper injured in suspected PLA attack

IMPHAL, May 14: A combined team of 1/11 GR and 25 Madras Regiment B Coy came under heavy attack by suspected PLA underground militants near Border Pillar Number 45 at Theikhuthang under Singhat Police Station in Churachanpur around 5.45 am on Wednesday.

Two personnel of the 25 Madras Regiment B Coy were injured in the gun battle and airlifted to the Leimakhong Military Hospital for treatment.

According to a source, the incident occurred on Wednesday when personnel of 25 Madras Regiment and 1/11 GR were heading toward the Border Pillar number 45 from the Border Pillar number 44 TOB post of 1/11 to complete a handling and taking charge procedure of the TOB between 1/11 GR and 25 Madras Regiment.

The combined team were approaching toward border Pillar number 45 when they came under heavy attacks of guns and bombs from suspected PLA militants after which the combined team retaliated to the gun-battle that lasted for around one and half hour at Theikhuthang Village under Singhat Police Station. During the heavy attack of guns and bombs, two personnel of 25 Madras Regiment received injuries on the legs and were evacuated to the Leimakhong Military Hospital, added the source.

The two injured persons are identified as Subedar Murugan Dan (JC 439899) and a jawan NK Guru Swami (Rifleman Number 2604029.

Our sources also informed that there might be some casualties on the side of suspected PLA militants as well.
