NWU welcomes Peace Accord

IMPHAL, Oct 12: The Naga Women`™s Union (NWU) in its 22nd Annual Assembly Meeting held from October 8 to 9 at Maringphai, Chandel district welcomed and reaffirmed the historic Indo-Naga Peace Accord signed on August 3 in New Delhi, said a press release of the union.

It said the NWU earnestly urges the Government of India to expedite the framework agreement, it calls on the Naga people to work together by shedding off their ill feelings and differences towards each other and advocates our women to take due part for bringing permanent solution to the Naga political issues for a common cause.

Naga women leaders, representing various Naga tribes in Manipur raised voice against the 3 bills passed in the Manipur Legislative Assembly on 31st August, 2015, and denounce the tribal MLAs for failing to protect and defend the rights and land of the people in its meeting, it said.
