IMPHAL, Feb 14: Governor of Manipur V Shanmuganathan today extended his best wishes and warm greetings to the people of Manipur, especially to Naga brethren on this happy and auspicious occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni, 2016.

In his greeting message, Governor said “All the people in Manipur belonging to the Naga communities celebrate Lui-Ngai-Ni on the February 15 every year for a bountiful and bumper harvest”. He said it is a festival of thanksgiving and people seek the blessing of the almighty for a prosperous life.

Apart from the deeply rooted traditional and customary practices associated with the festival, it has also now gained popularity as a tourist festival where all communities come together, rising above their difference to join in the festivities. This festival has come to signify peace, harmony and humanism for all. Let the festival bring peace and happiness to one and all, he added.
