One day cycle rally take off today under the theme “Let’s make plastic free rivers” on saving the Rivers of Manipur.
The cycle rally which was organised by Leipung Wah Entertainment in association with Rivers and Environment Protection Society Manipur began from Yumnam leikai lairenbi lampak than passes through Heirangoithong, Wahengbam Leikai, Nagamapal along the Nambul River side heading towards Khurai, Kongba, Uchekon Bashikhong along the Kongba River and back at the river bank of Nongmaishang (Singjamei) Bheigyabati leikai passing through Singjamei Kshetri Leikai where a concert known as River Bank Festival under the theme “Let’s Make Plastic Free Rivers” is going to take place on April 29 to 30 of 2017.
Participants carried the massage of Cycle for Change – “We all know throwing Plastic bottles and waste materials in the rivers is not a good things!! Now, the question is how to solve this problem?? Here is the answer – Integrated solid waste management system and plastic recycle plan is the only solution, so let’s speak together to our government. It is the responsibility of our government, but it is our responsibility to avoid the improper disposal of waste to make our environment clean.”
More than 50 independent cyclist including 5 female took part in the cycle rally cum awareness campaign.
