IMPHAL, Nov 5: The Inner Manipur MP, Dr Thokchom Meinya has expressed his profound grief and sorrow at the untimely demise of the renowned singer Khun Joykumar.
A press statement from the MP reads, “Late Khun Joykumar championed the cause for unity of the valley and hills in the state. The people of Manipur will continue to remember him for his patriotic songs and for his acting in this regard”.
In his death the state has lost a patriotic singer, it said.
It also added that Dr Meinya shares the grief of the family members of Khun Joykumar and prays that the departed soul may rest in eternal peace in heaven.
The United Committee Manipur organized a meeting on November 5 at 3:30pm at its Lamphel head office to condole the sudden demise of renowned singer and artist Khundrakpam Joykumar.
A press release of the UCM has said that a two minutes silence was also observe during the condolence meeting.
