IMPHAL, January 25: All preparations for the Republic Day celebration on January 26 in the State have been set under a tight security arrangements.
The Republic Day will be celebrated amidst general strikes and bandhs called by underground outfits in the State and the region. The state level celebration will be held at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade ground.
Considering the call of bandhs and blockades, security measures have been tightened across the State.
Official sources said round the clock patrolling will be carried out in strategic places in especially in the valley districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur.
Concerned authorities are also all set to celebrate the day at the district and sub-divisional levels.
Important places particularly the areas where the march past contingent will move have been fortified by State security forces with assistance from Central forces.
CRPF personnel including female personnel have been stationed along the road stretch where the parade will be taken out.
Construction of departmental and cultural tableaus for the celebration have all been set, informed a source.
The march past parade will be participated by contingents from security forces, schools and other government departments.
